Tournament Overview
The inaugural Foundation Cup marked the beginning of the Bhanuvara League on May 18th, 2025. This fast-paced 5-a-side knockout tournament brought together teams from across Bengaluru to compete for the prestigious Foundation Cup trophy and a ₹10,000 cash prize.
₹10,000 Cash Prize
Team SUII took home the cash prize along with the Foundation Cup trophy and bragging rights as the inaugural champions of the Bhanuvara League.
Tournament Format
Knockout Tournament
The tournament followed a single-elimination knockout format. Teams competed in head-to-head matches, with winners advancing to the next round until Team SUII emerged as champions.
Match Duration
Each match was 10 minutes in total - consisting of two 5-minute halves with a 1-minute halftime break.
Tie-Breakers
In case of a draw, matches were decided by a penalty shootout.
Rules & Regulations
- 5-a-side format (4 outfield players + 1 goalkeeper)
- Up to 3 substitutes allowed per team
- Rolling substitutions permitted during any stoppage in play
- No offside rule
- Goalkeepers cannot handle backpasses
- All free kicks are direct
- Kick-ins instead of throw-ins
All teams maintained fair play and sportsmanship throughout the competition, making it a memorable inaugural tournament.
